Getting enough sleep

Good night's sleep is important, not only for your health and wellbeing, but because it also greatly impacts your personal and professional performance.  Good sleep can be an important and vital role in improving your memory.  It can help you think clearly and be more productive.

Sleep is essential to every process in the body, affecting our physical and mental functioning the next day, our ability to fight disease and develop immunity, and our metabolism and chronic disease risk

The amount of sleep we need each day varies with age.

: A newborn baby sleeps 14-17 hours a day, which is what the baby needs. 11-14 hours of sleep is enough for a growing baby.

: 10-13, 9-11 and 8-10 hours of sleep is essential for school going children to teenagers.

: While adults should sleep for 7-9 hours, elderly people should sleep for 7-8 hours.

Kids need even more sleep than adults:

: Teens need 8 to 10 hours of sleep each night.

: School-age children need 9 to 12 hours of sleep each night.

: Preschoolers  need to sleep between 10 to 13 hours a day (including naps)

: Toddlers need to sleep 11 to 14 hours a day ( including naps)

: Babies need to sleep between 12 to 16 hours a day ( including naps)

: Newborens need to sleep between 14 to 17 hours a day

Getting enough sleep has many benefits.

It can help you:

: Get sick less often.

: Stay at a healthy weight.

: Lower your risk of serious health problems, like diabetes and heart disease.

: Reduce stress and improve your mood.

: Think more clearly and do better in school and at work.

: Get along better with people.

: Make good decisions and avoid injurious-for example, drowsy drivers cause thousands of car accidents every year.

: Getting the right amount of sleep at the right time is very important. Sleep is essential not only for our physical and mental health, but also for our skin health.

: A good deep and restful sleep can help keep our eyes healthy. Gives good relaxation to the retinoids of the eye.

: Adequate sleep can reduce eye puffiness and prevent dark circles under the eyes

: Doctors say that if you want your hair to grow well and fast, you need to take good care of it. Studies show that a good night's sleep boosts hair growth.

: Hormones that stimulate hair growth are produced more at night. So a good night's sleep will stimulate hair growth.

: There are many reasons for the appearance of wrinkles on the skin. Wrinkles occur in the skin as we age.

: Wrinkles in the skin are caused due to various reasons like stress, anemia, lack of sleep. But a good night's sleep results in less cortisol production. It reduces skin wrinkles.

It is noted that many problems will come to the body due to lack of sleep, especially eye irritation and headache. It is also worth noting that blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and diabetes are also likely to occur without proper sleep

Getting enough sleep can play an important role in your weight, emotional wellbeing, blood pressure, diabetes, mental and physical performance, and more. Remember that adults aren't the only ones who need good sleep. It's also critical that children get even more sleep than adults.
